Note from the editor

July 11, 2025

Some members of the Lindale community responded negatively to an article published by Rambler Texas Media in the Lindale News on June 26, 2025: ‘City of Roses celebrates Pride Month.’

A couple of people cancelled their subscriptions, while others noted their disdain for the article and disappointment in the Lindale News.

The staff of the Rambler Texas Media would like to clarify their position on choosing stories for the paper.

When Christ was asked which commandment was the most important, He offered two commandments in reply, the second of which can be found in Mark 12:30—‘The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

There is no Mark 12:30b, which states, ‘unless, of course, your neighbor doesn’t speak your language, was born in another country, is too short, loves differently than you, dresses differently, expresses themselves differently, eats cabbage, committed adultery, or has a criminal record.’

Christ made it easy for us: ‘Love your neighbor.’

We live our faith every day, which we hope is reflected in our publications and the stories we choose to invest in. We will, to the best of our ability, create a newspaper for the entire community of Lindale and its surrounding area. We will not exclude anyone based on outward criteria.

The staff of Rambler Texas Media is saddened to learn that some community members did not appreciate the story we published. We publish lots of stories; wait a bit, and we are sure you will find something to appreciate in our publication.

Sincerely,

Stacey Starkey, Editor
Rambler Texas Media
